I am Pao, I work on a full-time office job, have 2 children in kindergarden and not enough time for sport. However, I fell in love with the smiles of the children participating in the BatorTabor, so I decided to organize myself and do my best to help flourishing more of those smiles by, at the same time, do something for my health.

  • This is the end…

    Dear Friends,

    Long time no speak! I’m sorry to have left you without news for so long. Due to developments at my workplace, I had to shift some priorities, and was left without much time for blogging…

    My Benefitness project is coming to an end this month, and I am proud to announce that together, we have raised 366,000 Forint for Bator Tabor! Thanks to you all, a lot of smiles will appear on children faces and sparkles will glow in their eyes. Entire families will benefit from the support and warmth they so much need, and this, my friends, thanks to your generosity <3.

    You’ll note that I also have completed (okay, almost) my part of the deal: 127 hours of sport (mostly joga at the end, but even so, my back is so thankful!).

    Now it’s up to you to continue supporting Bator Tabor with your donations, or to close them, should you wish so. In any case, we have done a wonderful job together, and I really thank you for having accompanied me in this adventure!

    Stretching 0.0 km 01:00:00 0 kCal

    Hi Dears!

    So yesterday I went to this stretching course, which I was very happy to find. And it was very good !!!! You may remember that one of my personal goals with this Benefitness project is to be able to touch my toes while bending over with straight legs. Yes I know, it seems easy for most of the humanity, but for me its a real challenge!! Es kepzeljetel el (I absolutely love this hungarian expression), yesterday AFTER the stretching hour I was like 2cm from my goal. I was so enthusiastic that I even said it loud, and the others girls looked at me a bit startled while taking out their heads from between their knees.

    And the second thing which is beautiful about this stretching course is that it takes place in the Suhanj Fitness, which is an integrated place where people with and without disability can train together. I participated to the crowdfunding to support the construction of this place, so it was a double pleasure to have a class there 🙂

    Even a triple pleasure, given that it’s all part of the Benefitness programm.

    After all this overload of pleasure I wish you a great day, a very nice Augusztus 20 to all my Hungarian friends, es puszi mindenkinek.

  • Ujra a vizben – 2szer is…

    (with DJ voice) ES KIERT ??? A BATRAKERT !!!! YEEEAAAAHHH !!! (Szigetcrowd applause).

    My zodiac sign is bull, but in fact it should be fish. Obviously not a dolphin, but a simple little fish, just enjoying its fish-ness. But anyway, back to the point: I resumed my swimming routine today, planned to do 30/35 mn as I’m a bit out of shape after the holidays, but had to stop as 25mn since a storm came and we had to go out of the pool.

    I thought that by the time I take my shower and get dressed the storm will be passed, but unfortunately it was not the case, so my carefully dried and brushed hair looked like a mess again after the 10mn bicycle ride to get to work ????

    Yes I know, fishes should not have hair anyway…

  • Fejjel lefele a Batrakert !

    Hi Folks!

    Yesterday I tried the so-called “Antigravity” yoga, with hammock. Based on the description it sounded very good: accessible to beginners like me, not a lot of muscle work, a lot of stretching, and it was described as good against back pain, and for people who have an office job and sit a lot.

    Therefore I thought ok lets try it! Indeed, anyone can manage to do the exercises, there was a lot of stretching, but yet, I finished the course with mixed feelings… I felt that this technique was indeed really great for relaxing and releasing tensions in back, lower back, shoulders and hips, but on the other hand, I just couldn’t really cope with the constant swinging and the famous “forditott testhelyzet” and ended up totally sea-sick…

    I wasn’t able to get back on my bicycle after the course, and had to walk home pushing it. Then I was really grateful that the Antigravity joga studio lays about 300m from my home 🙂

    Now comes the question: should I accept that I am no monkeygirl, that having my head down is just not for me, and stop right now? Or shall give it 1 or 2 other tries, see if I can get used to it? Well, I think I need to be brave, and try it again, at least twice. Then if I’m still sick, I need to be brave again, and accept that I was born to do something else 😉

    I had a quite hectic June and July, I started with being sick, then working a lot/too much, then I had a well-deserved family holiday, that’s why you didn’t see me a lot theses days, but don’t think it’s so easy to get rid of me!! I’m back, tainted and relaxed, and ready to rock the water again 🙂

  • When 17m seems huge

    Hi Dears,

    I tested the 50m pool in Komyadi yestersday, and was very surprised about how big the difference was between my “usual” 33m and the 50m. It was much more tiring and I didn’t manage more than 30mn, but I was also happy to realize that it didn’t seem completely impossible. I guess I can get used to it within one month 🙂

    I imagine that’s how our brave friends from the Bator Tabor and their family proceed: one little step at a time to fight the disease. Then at some point you look back, an realize how much you’ve improved already!

    Amikor szoltak hogy csak edzesre beengednek, hirtelen nem tudtam mit csinalni, igy fel 7-re be mentem dolgozni. Csak aztan (sajnos tul keson) jutott eszembe hogy mehettem volna a Komyadiba…

    Najo, azzal vigazstalom magam, hogy … hogy… hat, nem! Nem birom vigasztalni magam, bruhuhuhu !! 😉

  • Feel the flow

    Hi dears! Today I went again for a “longer” swim, 40mn instead of 30mn, and realised that it is the absolute best for me at this stage. I’ll tell you why:

    Since I’m not really doing warming-up exercises outside the water – apart from going to Margit Sziget by bike – I need about 15-20mn swimming until by body warms up, my breathe regularizes and my movements are better coordinated.

    And then… then, come what I call “the flow”, this state where you’re gliding in the water at a regular pace, with minimal effort, without struggling for air. When I swim for 40mn I have 20mn of this blissful state, and it’s quite a great deal to feel in such harmony with the water as an element which, besides being absolutely beautiful, can also kill you in a matter of minutes…

    That being said, don’t imagine me as kind of french Hosszu Katinka, I’m still super slow, my technique is far away from being perfect, and after 40mn I’m a total mess again because I get tired. What I try to express, is what I guess musicians may feel when they’re in a good jam: it just feels good 🙂

    And I guess/hope that it is also the feeling of children and parents participating in the Bator Tabor. Even if only for a short time, it’s priceless to just feel good.

    Hi dears! Hope you all had a lovely long week-end! For my part I had 🙂

    It was so sweet thinking about a “Lundi au soleil”, some more hours of sleep, and I so very much enjoyed the relaxed long week-end that, BOOOM!!! It happened!!! For the first time since the benefitness program started, I indulged and didn’t go up in the morning for my joga class!

    I must say that I appreciated the 2-3 additional hours of sleep I got, but then, I felt so guilty that I compensated right today with a good session at the gym! In addition, I just got a lovely recognition from the Benefitness team on the Bator Tabor webpage praising my perseverance, so I really couldn’t let things go just now! L’honneur est sauf! 🙂

    Remember this elliptic trainer I mentioned some weeks ago, the one I almost died on after 10mn? (See post “15 <3” from 01 April).

    Well, I did 40mn on it today. I’m not saying it was easy. But still. 40mn! In a row! On the evil machine! Just for you all and for the children we are supporting together <3

  • 45mn – 46 laps

    Hi everybody!

    Today I achieved 2 very important things: 1- I swam for 45mn in a row (ok, with some 30sec breaks), and 2- even more important, I managed to count the laps!!! Overall I am bad at numbers, so when it comes to count, while at the same time coordinating the movements, breathe (possibly outside of the water) and concentrate to ignore the water-polo swimmers racing in the next lane, well… it’s not so easy 😉

    Anyway, I counted 46 laps, which means that I swam more or less 1.5 km! I would never have thought that I’m able to do that! See how grateful I am for your support 😉

  • Yaaayyyy !!!!

    Et voila!! Last step done, thanks to a very ultimate and precise XY contributor, we’ve reached the fundraising goal by May 9 🙂 If I was not at work, I would just jump around, I’m so proud of you, of us !!! But wait, what happens now, is it all finished ???

    No, no, no. First of all, I won’t let you down, you’ve helped me reach my fundraising goal, but I still need to show you that I can reach my sport goal, so keep on with me! And I’m not giving up neither on finding new partners. Let’s see what we can achieve together, let’s see how many more smiles we can gather!

  • Room for improvement

    I just realised that I am a terrible blogger… I am good at going to the gym/swimming-pool/yoga class, at saying thank you and at fundraising, but I see I should improve on my “stay-in-contact” and “tell us about it” skills ???? I’ll try to put one entry a week from now on! Puszi mindenkinek!

    Oh and BTW, thanks to you ALL, I will be smashing my fundraising objective!!! Only 1 step to go, and it’s reached, then the more it grows, the more smiles will be flourishing on children’s and families’ faces. Go, go, go !!!

    Hey Dears (you’re 18 now by the way),

    I’m so proud of you, you’re so incredibly fantastic and terrific that even Donald Trump would feel humble next to you. Together we managed to gather more than half of the final goal, and it’s only April !!

    I don’t know how to express how grateful I am, but believe me, I am 🙂

    I couldn’t move this week due to an unexpected health issue, but I’ll be back from next week, EZERREL, az some use to say!

    I had again some tough insomnia the last days, so to get to my yoga class at 7am this morning was a real challenge. I was very tired, and felt very tense. But I managed, I even arrived on time, and all that thanks to YOU all and to the Bátrak!!!

    I didn’t know that bravery could be contagious, but apparently it is! Are you infected yet???

    As of today, there are 15 people supporting my project. 15 lovely, generous people. 15 hearts for children. 15 pairs of bracing arms. 15 decisions taken, which are making a real difference. 15 lives on the path of giving, changing lives of others for the better. And 15 lucky souls which whom I share my secret: yesterday I tried a new elliptical trainer and almost died on it. My face became pinker that my new training shirt, and my legs were shaking so hard, that I hardly managed to climb down the machine. Good that I still have some months to improve 🙂

    It was worth being again at 6:30 in the swimming pool: I got to see – halfway from under the water – a beautiful sunrise between the trees of Margit Sziget, which definitely rewarded me for my efforts! And I managed for the first time to swim crawl for 40mn in a row !! 🙂

    I failed to complete the 30mn elliptic training today, because I forgot my keys and couldn’t lock my bike when I arrived at the gym. 🙁 And it would have been too long to go back to my workplace, get the keys, then go back to the gym, and then only start the training…

    So I decided to go to the other end of the kerulet to buy a healthy lunch at a nice little restaurant named “Nemsuti”, and had finally a 20mn bike training in the sunshine instead 😉

    My Dears, this morning I was at 6:30 in the 33m pool of the swimming complex on Margit sziget, I swam for 35mn and I just would like to thank you all, because without thinking of you and of the children we support together, I’m not sure I could get out of my bed 😉

    Gondolom, mindenki ismeri ezeket a “nincs kifogas” cimu edzes videokat, amiben egy 3 gyerekes anya, aki ugy nez ki mint valami fitness bajnok, ugy edz hogy kozben mepuszilgatja a kolykoket, felmos, vagy eppen husveti vacsit foz… ja es persze a neheznel nehezebb gyakorlatokat szelesen mosolyogva teljesiti, mikozben a gyerkocok KORULOTTE ugralnak, vagy “benne vannak epitve” a mozgasaban.

    Na, nalunk picit mas lett. Majdnem felpofoztam a kislanyomat (aki nagyon ugyesen mellettem edzett) egy szeles karmozgassal, majdnem eltortem a Balazs gitarjat egy szeles labmozgassal, es persze tobbszor kellett abba hagynom es figyelmeztetni a kisfiamat (aki ezek szerint nem “nincs kifogas” video-kepes), aki ha ugralt, akkor persze nem korulottem hanem RAJTAM, es aki kihasznalta a tokeletes lehetoseget es majdnem roszalkodott.

    Szerencsere minden csak majdnem. Ja, es edzes kozben majdnem is mosolyogtam! Viszont husveti vacsi meg mindig nincs 😉 Puszi mindenkinek

  • Uszas – Ovibol iskolaba

    Sziasztok!

    Ma volt az elso uszo “edzesem” a Hajos Alfred uszodaban, a Margit szigeten. Eddig a Helia Wellness Hotel uszomedencejeben usztam, ami mar reggel 7kor is teli van turistakkal es nyugdijasokkal, nem a legsportosabb fajtabol 😉 Ott, sokszor en voltam a leggyorsabb (najo tenyleg nem volt nehez) es 1 egyetlen kivetellel, en egyedul gyorsusztam. Ugy ereztem magam, mint capa a meduzak kozott.

    Ma, mas vilagban jartam… Rajottem (najo tudtam, de olyan szivesen elfelejtkeztem tola), hogy nem is capa, hanem max. bohochal vagyok, es most mar a delfinek kozott uszok. Csupa fiatal sportolok, mozog a viz, kiabal az edzo, es hat – TADAMM, szerep-csere!! – en voltam a nyanya!!

    De mindegy, meg mindig marhara orulok hogy egyaltalan tudok gyorsuszni (a Komjadiban tanultam kb 9/10 eve), nyomtam a feloramat, es hiaba nem volt standing ovation amikor kijottem, megis ugy ereztem magam 😉

    Mindenkinek halas koszonet a tamogatasert, majd tobbet meselek a vizikalandjaimrol 🙂
